2016 January Scottish Night
Scottish Night- 29 Jan 2016
On 29th January 2016, the first ever Parish Scottish evening was held in the meeting room, Deeping St James. 52 parishioners and friends were treated to an evening of high class Scottish hospitality which included a three course meal, a quiz on facts about Scotland and, of course, the compulsory raffle!
On the menu, was freshly caught haggis, along with Lanarkshire neeps and Perthshire oatcakes. The main dish comprised of Aberdeen Angus Steak pie, newly mashed Ayrshire tatties and processed peas from Tesco! For dessert, we had delicious Cranachan- which contained 12 year old malt whisky, along with home- made Scottish shortbread and finished off with a special treat- deep fried Mars bars!! (As we didn’t have a deep fat fryer, guests were allowed to take them home and do the frying in the privacy of their own homes). This was Fr Victor’s first taste of Haggis which he relished and, no doubt, he is keen to try it again!
The quiz was a light hearted affair and the winners left with their prize- 4 tins of haggis.
Everyone enjoyed the evening and thank you to everyone who supported the event.
